The death of two demonstrators allegedly shot dead by police during protests in Ishiara, Mbeere North in Embu County has been turned into politics ahead of next year’s polls,
It is being used against current governor Cicily Mbaririe who also happens to be the area governor. The dead were among peaceful demonstrators concerned with the worsening and deteriorating state of Ishiara Level 4 health facility. Mbaririe also happens to be the UDA chairperson.
Residents including youth – had taken to the streets to demand urgent intervention from the Embu County government, citing persistent challenges at the facility, including lack of drugs, inadequate staffing, and poor service delivery.
